Richard L. Wagenheim, Of Counsel with Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm and partner of Wagenheim & Wagner, focuses his practice on workers’ compensation law. He has been designated since 1989 by The Florida Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law.

Richard attended Michigan State University, in East Lansing, MI, where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1968 and graduated from Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University in 1972.

Richard has earned numerous legal awards and accolades, including being named “Attorney of the Year” by the NFLPA Workers’ Compensation panel and the PHPA panel in 2006. He also has been included in the Florida Super Lawyers list.

Richard’s professional affiliations include serving as a member of the National Football League, Professional Hockey Players’ Association and National Hockey Players’ Association Workers’ Compensation panels. He also provides representation to professional baseball players on behalf of the Major League Baseball Players’ Association.

A past director of Florida Workers’ Advocates, Richard has lobbied during legislative sessions on behalf of the rights of injured workers. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Sports Lawyers’ Association, is a member of The Florida Bar Workers’ Compensation Section and The Florida Justice Association, and is a past chair and board member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Broward County Bar Association.

He is admitted to The Florida Bar (1973). He is also licensed to practice in Michigan, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Florida and Eastern District of Michigan.

Richard routinely accepts invitations to speak about workers’ compensation topics. He has lectured at the Florida Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference, the Sports Lawyers’ Association Annual Conference, Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars, and at the University of Miami.

His community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Urban League of Broward County and the Coast to Coast Basketball Club. He is a national board member and Florida State Director of Biddy Basketball, a national boys’ and girls’ basketball program that Richard brought to South Florida.
