I pause this week to congratulate Neal C. Falk. Neal is the chair of the Broward County Bar Association Sports Law Litigation / Workers’ Compensation Section. He has been named “Chair of the Year” by that Association. Certainly, this is a well deserved recognition of Mr. Falk. However, it is also a recognition of the sports law litigation / workers’ compensation section that he leads. Of all the sections of that Bar, and the many activities they conduct, and of the many chairs that contribute, The Broward Bar is recognizing Mr. Falk. Bravo!

The Broward Bar Association has historically had an active sports law litigation / workers’ compensation section. However, at the turn of the Century Richard Wagenheim infused a new enthusiasm in the section. Through his efforts, the section focused upon their annual education program, which grew significantly during his tenure. Both the depth and breadth of the topics offered at the section event expanded.

When Mr. Falk became the section chair, he built upon that foundation, bringing fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to the program and the section itself. He and Richard are both fortunate to have had the support of many fine lawyers in the section, as well as the Ft. Lauderdale bench, Judges Hogan, Lewis and Pecko. The annual CLE program has grown and remains a mainstay of the section and sports law litigation / workers’ compensation practice in southeast Florida. It in itself is worthy of recognition, and I have enjoyed attending several times.

Mr. Falk is a partner at Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm in Ft. Lauderdale, and manages its Sports Law / Workers’ Compensation Department. He focuses his practice in the areas of general liability, commercial litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice and sports law litigation / workers’ compensation. He received a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in Miami, FL, in 1995, and a bachelor’s degree from Union College, in Schenectady, NY, in 1992.

In addition to his award-winning leadership of the Broward Bar Section, Mr. Falk is currently serving on the Executive Council Member for the Sports Law Litigation / Workers’ Compensation Section of The Florida Bar. He formerly served two terms on the The Florida Bar’s Sports Law Litigation / Workers’ Compensation Rules Advisory Committee. He has been active with the Bar’s Forum educational program and has lectured at Nova Southeastern Sheppard Broad Law Center.

Another great example of a sports law litigation / workers’ compensation professional accomplishing great things for his community and the sports law litigation / workers’ compensation practice. Mr. Falk, congratulations on the recognition bestowed upon you by the Broward Bar! Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the Florida sports law litigation / workers’ compensation practice.

I am proud to boast of this honor bestowed upon one of our own. Do you know someone worthy of recognition for their efforts? Contact me at
