In times of crisis it’s often good to consider those around us. This year has been unusually challenging in countless ways. We’ve experienced isolation from family, friends and colleagues which has shown a light on what really matters in life.
COVID-19 has broken the human bonds of family and friends, and children’s lives have been disrupted in immeasurable ways, especially with school, learning and socialization. Another way the pandemic has wreaked havoc is the growing hunger crisis. The despair is seen in the endless lines for food donations around the country; in many cases, filled with people that never thought they would ever need that help.
The widespread pain that we’ve seen should make us appreciate how blessed we are. We seek a higher purpose to propel us forward in the face of these challenges. But it’s not enough to move forward alone. We must collectively stand in the gap for those that are less fortunate.
Authorities predict that this food crisis will worsen and the government stimulus money will dry up creating the potential for devastating consequences. We simply cannot stand silent in such a desperate time of need.
So during this Holiday season, the Law Firm of Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm wishes to truly evidence our thankfulness by redirecting the funds that traditionally purchased gifts and tokens for our clients and referral partners, and make a donation to local food banks in South and Central Florida. We encourage our colleagues across Florida to do the same – to look outward this year and help others in need of life’s basics: food.
Below are some well-established food banks in South and Central Florida. We ask that you please join us in making sure that these organizations or one of your choosing have sufficient supplies to meet our community’s needs this Holiday season and beyond.
